"What A Real Opposition Would Be Doing"
“Every movement begins with heat. Not policy. Not polling. But friction.”
This isn’t a campaign. It’s a movement - or it should be. And yet the Dems still think we’re in a normal election cycle. They think they’re running against another “administration.” But, what we’re watching is coordinated, deceptive, and permanent if left unchallenged. This message is for elected officials in office and for every consultant wondering WTF the problem is. Keep doing the same shit, we need more assholes to blame when this is over.
The Old Playbook Is Dead Focus Groups. Policy PDFs. A picture with a baseball bat. That’s the extent of the strategy. The same donors, the same phrases. But the problem isn’t tone - it’s reality.
The regime lies every day 1000 times a day. And the Democrats refuse to name those lies at scale. When you can count on 2 hands which leaders are brave enough to name it, that’s when you know one side sees things differently. It’s so simple it’s almost too easy but they still fail at coordination. “The GOP IS FUCKING LYING TO YOU” “The WH IS LYING TO YOU”
You get 10 leaders to say that to a camera and you get a viral moment Fox News spits out in disgust! But, hey who am I right? Certainly not a DNC consultant.
Why You’re Bleeding Support isn’t lost to apathy. It’s lost to disillusionment. You didn’t show up when Medicaid was gutted. You didn’t fight when the National Guard was deployed for optics. You didn’t scream when Americans were treated like enemies. So don’t be shocked when voters stop believing you’re on their side. Here we have a group of Americans who believe so many lies and the other side believes the fix is to “Stay Positive” “Don’t be negative” The real pain a lot of Americans feel right now is bottled up in content they read, or hear. The algorithmic headlines tell them who’s fighting, who is standing up for them. But there are only a handful of Democrats fighting outside the normal election cycle. Just a handful, the rest are on legacy media discussing polling and statements that test well in their little donor focus groups.
Narrative Warfare is the Battleground The regime isn’t responding to events. They’re creating them. Scripted chaos. Biblical cover. Manufactured fear. They know what they’re doing. And they say it out loud.
Meanwhile, the Democrats treat the narrative like it’s optional. But coordinated messaging isn’t an accessory. It’s the weapon. I harp on the narrative a lot, and I do that for a bunch of reasons, the main one being that it’s easy as shit to see what game the GOP is playing and it’s easy as shit to weaponize the facts into language that can be used as machine gun, that fires round after round, giving the other side no quarter.
The Countdown Clock Is The Weapon You Want to Scare the Regime? Build the damn countdown clock. Date by date, lie by lie. You want to strip them of their talking points in real time? Build it. You want to give every Opposition leader a billboard to point to and say, “Here’s the date they cut your Medicaid. Don’t believe me? Watch the clock.” Then build it. If the regime tries to take it down - even better. You just proved the threat. But the reality is, they won’t build it, and in fact there will be multiple countdown clocks thrown up as a way to monetize and create engagement. But that wasn't the point right? Anyone can throw up a countdown clock but it’s not anyone who needs it. One group of elected Americans needed the weapon. The countdown clock will now be another Trump tracker the base can then use to say “See” but again it’s not us who needed it.
What Democrats Still Don’t Get Campaigns aren’t about vibes anymore. They're about truth at scale. About forcing clarity into chaos. About turning “what can I do?” into “I see it. Let’s go.”
Most Americans don’t hate the other side - they hate everyone. You want to flip that? Speak for them. Name the pain. Then build the thing no one else had the spine to build.
The same old tired midterm strategy is back live and in color - only now with slightly sharper language and a recycled Mamdani playbook in places where it won’t land. Every major poll - save one suspicious internal outlier - shows the Dems underwater. The consultants know it. The leadership knows it. But instead of asking why, they keep churning out the same stale formulas. Running strategy from pre-2019 is going to get you the same old shit!
You can practically hear the conversations: “Let’s call it a crime scene on Americans.” “Post a pic with a baseball bat, that’ll show ‘fight’.”
Meanwhile, Newsom, Ossoff and Swalwell humiliate Trump in broad daylight - and no one echoes it. Not a quote, not a clip, not a message cascade. Just silence, like a train vanishing into the night. No media firestorm over a passionate speech. Because we don’t weaponize shit over here. We believe in decorum still and we will let Americans suffer before we get the fuck out of our own way.
Because here's the hard truth: to flip supporters, you first have to tell them why. Then you drop the partisan branding entirely. Nobody - not even their own base - likes the Democrats right now. So stop trying to paper over that with more of the same DNC-tested scripts from 2024. I could write language for these people today and hit more “Damn right” feedback then 90% of the electeds in office.
And no, Mamdani’s campaign model won't work in every state, every city, every race. In deep red and swing areas, you either break the mold, or you break the party. Donor-tested ads and sanitized focus groups are the exact reason support is bleeding. And if you don’t believe that, read your own fucking polling.
You can see the split plain as day now - between the grassroots candidates actually trying to reach people, and the centrist, donor-class-backed moderates who’ve decided that copy-pasting Mamdani is the ticket to victory. As if Americans are still as easy to fool. And sure, many are - we live in a country where people will vote against their own interests while the gaslight’s on full blast - but this isn’t about intelligence anymore. It’s about willful blindness from the people who claim to lead us.
The establishment is playing it safe. “Don’t upset the donors.” “Don’t mention Medicare for All - you’ll scare off the money.”
They’re so afraid to name what’s happening that they’re letting a regime rewrite reality while they stand there and recite mushy focus-grouped lines like: “It’s a crime scene.” “This is an assault on the American people.”
That’s what you say when your strategy is run by consultants and your soul is leased to a donor syndicate. Because if you were actually fighting - really fighting - you’d be naming names, pointing to countdown clocks, and turning every lie into a headline of its own.
Let me be clear: we are watching institutions collapse on purpose. Prices are skyrocketing on purpose. Tax cuts are being handed to the elite on purpose. And a narrative war - a full-scale PSYOP - is being waged across the media spectrum.
In that environment? You don’t run polite little “not-MAGA” campaigns. You build a fucking movement.
People in red states are showing up to see Bernie and AOC, not because they suddenly agree on everything, but because someone is finally speaking to them - not for them. That’s the difference. That’s what the people are waiting for.
But instead? The Democrats are polishing its same broken strategy. No national message discipline. No narrative coordination. Just more bs ad buys, more consultant babble, more slogans that sound like a half-drunk marketing team wrote them in a Courtyard Marriott.
So when they fail to sweep the midterms - when they underperform again - don’t act surprised. Just remember this: To them, this regime isn’t a regime. It’s just another swing of the pendulum. They’re not planning to fight. They’re planning to survive.
The “murder bill” that gutted Medicaid and crushed working-class families? It won’t be used as a sword. It’ll be used as a talking point.
And when it all falls apart - again - just know: they chose this. “Well, our message just didn’t land. Maybe we need to focus more on economic policies in the Midwest.”
And not a single one of them will admit the truth: You lost because you didn’t fight. You lost because you never went for the throat. You lost because you thought truth didn’t need a sword or it was put under a fucking pillow.
When you don’t name the lies, when you don’t create urgency, when you’re still treating this like normal politics - you’re choosing to lose.
Meanwhile, the other side has built an emotional machine. They’ve got rage, religion, identity, and economic fear locked into one simple story: “We’re the only ones fighting for you.”
And what does the Opposition have? Focus-grouped phrases. C-SPAN clips. Another fundraising email.
Coordinated narrative isn’t about a campaign. It’s about movement. It's about repetition, clarity, emotional connection, and discipline. You don’t “try a new ad.” You plant flags in the ground and dare them to push back.
And when people feel that - when they sense that someone is actually speaking for them, not at them - they move. Not because of a policy plan. Not because of some D.C. strategist’s memo. But because they finally feel seen. And in that moment, you win.
I watch video after video of consultants pitching “Medicare for All” and “climate optimism” like those are the silver bullets. They’re not wrong on policy - but they are dead wrong on timing.
They cite Mamdani’s primary win like it’s proof that slogans about healthcare can win across America. But Mamdani didn’t win because of Medicare for All. He won because he was real, because people could feel him fighting with them, not above them. And because the machine didn’t care enough to stop him.
But this isn’t a local race. This is a war, and only one side is acting like it.
The regime is using tariffs as proof of strength: “Look how much we made China pay.” When in reality it’s: “Look how much Americans just paid for MAGA’s delusion.”
Where are the Democrats turning that around? Where’s the viral campaign saying: “You didn’t win anything. You paid for their lies-again.”
It doesn’t exist, because they’re not in the fight. They’re still playing 2020 ad consultant bingo while the regime is running psyops in real-time.
Let me be clear: There is no policy, no tweet, no feel-good slogan that will flip a committed regime voter. None. You don’t beat propaganda with facts. You beat it by weaponizing the truth.
You win by unifying dissent. You speak to every small town, rural county, and broken factory city in the same clear voice: “They did this to you. And we’re here to stop it-together.”
You show up. You check in. You hit the pain points again and again-because they’re real. And when you do? People show up. Thousands. We’ve seen it. Bernie. AOC. A few others. Not because of policy proposals-but because they name the pain. They call it what it is.
What a Real Opposition Would Be Doing Right Now (But Isn’t):
Counter-Narrative Offensive. Not a one-day tweet storm. A coordinated, relentless messaging assault that names the regime’s lies and the human cost. Not “policy critiques.” Not “concern.” Just truth - loud, visual, brutal. Don’t get me started on the Democrats BlueSky accounts. All you have to do is check them out and you will understand right away, why it’s not hitting.
Run Dissent Ads at Scale. Not to convert MAGA. To plant seeds in the cracks of disillusionment. “They lied so you’d vote for them. Now your father’s deported.” “They lied. Now your farm’s gone.” That’s how you break propaganda’s grip - one fracture at a time.
Coordinate Talking Points. Twenty to thirty loud, bold voices. Unified language. Nationwide repetition. Say the same thing, the same way, across every state and station. You want to teach Americans to hear the truth again? You brand it.
Use Polls as Weapons. Not fundraising bait. Not internal nav tools. Use them to humiliate the regime: “Your policies are killing you in the data.” Shove it into the narrative bloodstream until even the disengaged hear it.
Hold Rallies and Town Halls in Rural America. You say you’re fighting for the people? Then go to them. Stop ghosting half the country. Stop writing off every red town like it's a lost cause. Opposition shows up - especially in hostile terrain. That’s where revolutions begin.
Exploit the Fragility of Weak Men. Form a small, strategic coalition of loud opposition leaders who don't just call out the regime’s leader - they humiliate him. Poke. Provoke. Force the weak to reveal their instability. Anger makes them sloppy. Sloppiness gives you leverage. If you want to control the board, start making him react to you.
But here’s the kicker: They’re not doing this. And you know why. Because what we’re watching isn’t a real attempt to stop authoritarianism. It’s a repackaged midterm strategy, tweaked for headlines. They think they’re running a campaign. But what they should be doing is waging a resistance.
People ask me, “Does the Opposition reach out?” Of course not. That would mean admitting they don’t have the answers. They still believe power lies in courting upper-middle-class suburbanites who voted for a regime because it made them feel safe.
That’s the Democratic consultant brain at work - just ask Ken Martin or James Carville. They think the path back to power runs through the very people who cheered the lies.
Let that sink in. This isn’t just disconnect. It’s delusion. And it’s why we have to build what they won’t.
And why we have already started building what they won’t. Millions of Americans are working in groups in their communities already. You know why? Because they fucking have to. And the worst part of all this is that there is still a group of Americans who watch CSPAN and think Hakeem is fighting and it’s those people who will be lost come 2026 after the losses pile up. What we see now are elected leaders holding groups, teaching the base how to organize. But what's missing is the language repeated by that same leadership. You can hold all the conference calls, courses and training you want. But until leadership matches the fire and pain that the base feels, it’s just more of the same bullshit. So when people ask me “Does any staff ever reach out? The answer is fuck no, they don’t have balls to hear it from a GenXer who’s not afraid to say what they wish they would. If you are tired at catching the ball the Regime is throwing you and you feel lost and afraid and you don’t know where to put that anger.
Just come in here and comment and you will find thousands of like minded people ready to fight with you.

Even one voice can start an avalanche.

The narrative people should think about is explaining how the Republicans got here.
The Powell Memorandum was written in 1971.
The Heritage foundation was founded in 1973, they say they brought together 45 organizations to create Project 2025.
Failing small farmers might want to learn about the guy who said “Get big or get out,” in the 70’s.
When was the last time a Republican President wasn’t embroiled in scandals that American taxpayers or the military or both had to pay for?
Build the road map that led to a place where someone as crooked and dishonest as Trump was acceptable, and how the descent of America can be tracked to the rise of think tanks, to their completely being handed the levers of power.
There’s a reason we’re here, and a reason telling people hard truths is less successful than telling “The Big Lie.” As everything collapses, as you say, on purpose, there is a real trail that gets us here, and it’s by turning the rural voter against false enemies, and their own government. From shrinking government, through violent coup, to CEO dictator. From think tank to complete capture, there’s a reality that has a narrative that might just be able to drop the scales from a few eyes, and explain why we need to increase revenues to rebuild what has been shrunk by corporate usurpation and dishonest marketing.
I’m not sure what you do for a living, but if it’s not a paid position as a community organizer, you’ve missed your calling! Great essay.
