End Of Week Notes
Iran Deal Coming Soon - Deal Coser Than Ever
Listen, I just wrote a rant and it started out as a paragraph note but it got longer and I did not feel like throwing it into Substacks notes. There is nothing important in this piece just me giving you my takes on shit that happened this week.
This week was a never-ending barrage of headlines, news reels, paired with viral brain rot and news stories that are sold to us as breaking news. Most of which are not actually news, but because we are addicted to culture war drama, we eat it up. We had a pretty interesting narrative week. Regarding Iran, we saw the same language repeated “Bombing, threats” destruction” only to have attacks canceled, and at the same time we see “Deal in 3 days” “Bad deal” “good deal” “best deal ever” then “Deal will be signed this weekend” “Vance will be going for the signing” except nobody told Vance and as we speak, this wonderful deal signing still has no location”
Then Iran is pushing back on the deal; the hardliners don’t like it. The U.S., of course, says “Iran leaked the deal, and it’s fake news.”
My point here is all week we have spent decoding narrative in an attempt to determine what is real and what is likely happening. As I type this, Iran agreed to the deal per Pakistani negotiators. On top of that, Vance does not need to go anywhere because this deal will be signed electronically. Now, I need to be clear here: as I type this, across the ticker I see this caption “Donald Trump says deal will be reached soon.” Now, for the record, Pakistani media is reporting Iran agreed to terms and that Trump did not get everything he wanted?
With an electronic signature and Vance not having to travel 🤣, we get the idea here that headlines are nothing more than data points for us to sift through, never giving us the full picture. Electronic signatures, deal or no deals, and Hormuz possibly being opened. Although, I wonder if Israel will agree and will abide by the agreement. Time will tell; Israel and ceasefires go together like Bananas and pizza.
Trump called Elon a drug addict this week, again. The same week Elon became the world’s first trillionaire.
I’ve been running numbers since the early 2000s and reading financials. And I still can’t get over a Company that has 18.8 billion in revenue, 11 billion of which comes from Starlink, gets a 1.7 trillion valuation at 94x 95x earnings. When Meta went public, it was 22x earnings, if that gives you an idea.
The Democrats think they had a good week; there was a Politico article saying “Senate Dems punch back,” which means the same procedural legislative actions as always, with failure to control the narrative outside the halls of the Senate. This was the plan the entire time. Let things get so bad and let Trump mess up that Americans won’t have a choice. Either way, I do see some movement, but it’s not much. There is more movement at the local level across the states. That is what’s inspiring: communities working together.
A lot of procedural things happened this week. Not a lot of narrative capture happened on the Blue side.
The Bears are leaving Chicago, and surprise, the Democrats are to blame, those damn pesky immigrants getting services from the state government, and you know those billionaire NFL owners love to socialize the costs of a new stadium and privatize the profits. But sure, tell me that the State and Pritzker should have shelled out more money to keep the franchise in the city. It’s sad, but one billionaire governor to a Billionaire owner whose goal it is to make a profit, the best deal is to move the Bears to a different city.
My favorite part about all this is that this is over the cost of socializing the new stadium. A team that made like 700 million in revenue needs help from the state. But those damn immigrants and healthcare, dammit. What this shows us is the priorities of massive corporations. Without socializing the cost to build a new stadium or Data Centers, they have to move to a different city.
So imagine for a moment here, you own a business that makes a bottom line of about 700 million annually. You need the same tax breaks, the same subsidies the data centers get, as well as help with construction costs. And the residents of Chicago then have to pay higher ticket prices. But hey, those box seats are the best; someone needs to pay for all that free alcohol and food for the same group of people who needed the state’s money to build a stadium.
I just want to leave you with this. There is so much happening in the world, and every one of us has access to all of it at once. There is no story, no emergency, no breaking news that will satisfy our need for news and data. None; it’s created specifically because of this. Every title, every headline, every single algorithmic title is meant to create an emotional reaction. You rage-share it, you happy-share it, you anger-comment.
Do yourself a favor. Look at the sun, spend some time in the quiet. Sit outside, hang with your animals, or simply relax and enjoy a book. Every single article, every single event, will be there in the morning. You are not better because you ingested the latest Epstein details. It will be there in the morning. Give yourself the freedom and give your nervous system a break. I promise you will feel better.
Have a good weekend.

Yes.
Thank you for this and the reminder💙💜
